Nu metal is currently making a comeback, which only means good news is coming our way! The resurgence of iconic metal bands that made the 2000s so incredible is a much-welcomed feat, and it’s tours like The Machine Killer Tour help newfound fans discover the gems like Static X and Sevendust. Although these two bands have proven their longevity over time, the impact they had approximately two decades ago was undeniable.
Static X first made waves during the latest ‘90s with their debut album, Wisconsin Death Trip. The record sold over one million copies in the U.S., earning a platinum certification in the process. The breakout record spawned the hit singles “Push It,” “I’m with Stupid,” and “Bled for Days.” Performing moderately well on the Billboard 200, the album became one of the band’s staples and was responsible for bringing in a loyal following. For the next five albums, Static X maintained their Billboard 200 Top 20 streak. Their 2001 effort, in particular, became their highest-charting album in the U.S. However, their 2003 album, Shadow Zone, broke into the international charts.
This 2023, Static X is set to release their latest album, Project Regeneration Vol. 2. The album has already released its lead single,” Terrible Lie.” The song is Static X’s take on Nine Inch Nail’s 1989 single.
Alternative metal band Sevendust will also release their 2023 Truth Killer album this year. The record will be the band’s 14 studio release in their 26-year career. Released via Napalm Records, the album spawned the chart-performing single “Everything,” which peaked at number 23 on the Mainstream Rock Charts. Over the years, Sevendust has maintained its performance on the said chart. In 1997, they debuted on the chart with their first single, “Black,” peaking at number 30.
By 2003, they broke into the top 10 for the first time with their single, “Enemy,” from their fourth studio album, Seasons. Seven years later, Sevendust released “Unraveling,” their highest charting single on the chart. The song peaked at number 7, as well as entering the Top Rock Tracks and Rock Airplay charts.
