Boys Like Girls has been a stellar force in the 2000s pop punk era. Ever since the release of their self-titled debut album, the band has been prolific icons thanks to their relentless touring and sensational hits. The band’s self-titled debut, released in 2006, made a phenomenal breakthrough on the U.S. charts. The album peaked at number 55 on the Billboard 200 and numbers 14 and 2 on the Top Rock Albums and Heatseekers chart. The record spawned three breakout hits, such as the platinum-selling single “The Great Escape, and gold-selling staples “Hero/Heroine” and “Thunder.” The debut album moved on to sell over 500,000 copies, earning the band its first gold certification in the U.S. Boys Like Girls often went on notable tours to promote the album, including the 2007 Vans Warped Tour. The following year, the band also embarked on a co-headlining Soundtrack of Your Summer Tour with Good Charlotte.
After the fantastic success of their debut effort, Boys Like Girls released their follow-up album, Love Drunk, three years later. The album soared to number 8 on the Billboard 200 and dominated the Top Rock Albums chart. The record also spawned two platinum-selling singles, “Love Drunk” and “Two is Better Than One.” The latter single, written by Boys Like Girls frontman Martin Johnson, featured pop superstar Taylor Swift as a guest vocalist. The single sold over 1.5 million copies in the U.S. and entered four U.S. Billboard and four Canadian charts. To this day, Love Drunk is the band’s highest-charting effort.
In 2012, the band dropped their latest album Crazy World. The album featured three hit singles, “Be Your Everything,” “Life of the Party,” and “Red Cup Hands Up, Long Brown Hair.” It also became the band's last record in over a decade.
In 2023, the band broke their music drought with a brand new single, “Blood and Sugar.” The single, accompanied by a music video directed by Matty Vogel, was released through Fearless Records. The release of the new hit follows the band’s extensive 2022 tour that sent the boys to Australia and Asia. Boys Like Girls also made an incredible performance at the When We Were Young Festiva in October. This year, the band will release their brand new album, as well as a number of singles. With the recently released hit, Boys Like Girls are demonstrating their new wave influences, and fans are ecstatic for more.
